RTC adopts the 2014 Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Plan

At the Transportation Policy Workshop on June 26, the RTC adopted the 2014 Santa Cruz County Regional Transportation Plan and the corresponding environmental documents. Input has been sought at key milestones in development of this plan from the RTC, RTC committees, project sponsors, partner agencies, resource agencies, public and public interest groups. This long range transportation plan is the vision for transportation in Santa Cruz County through 2035. As funding becomes available for transportation in the future, this plan will provide the guidance for funding projects that will advance sustainability goals of economy, environment and equity. Projects prioritized in this plan include maintenance of our current transportation system; new auxiliary lanes on Highway 1; intersection improvements on local roads to improve safety and traffic flow; transit, bicycle and pedestrian projects; and greater usage of the community owned rail line including the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail and potential passenger rail service.
