Draft Environmental Impact Report for the Trail Network is now available

The RTC released the Draft Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on the proposed Monterey Bay Sanctuary Scenic Trail Network Draft Master Plan. The Draft EIR informs decision-makers and the general public of the significant environmental effects of the project, identifies possible ways to minimize the significant effects, and describes and analyzes reasonable alternatives to the project. The Draft Master Plan for the 50 mile multi-use bicycle and pedestrian trail network identifies the 32 mile Santa Cruz Branch rail line right-of-way as the system’s spine. The comment period on the Draft EIR runs from June 7th through July 22nd 2013. The document is available on the RTC website. CDs and a limited number of hard copies are available at the RTC’s Santa Cruz and Watsonville offices. Copies are also available at some local libraries. Public meetings to receive input will be held from 6-8 pm on June 25th at the Louden Nelson Community Center in Santa Cruz and June 27th at the Civic Plaza Community Room in Watsonville. The final Master Plan will be available in the fall of this year. Information about signing up to directly receive eNews about this project or other projects is available on the eSubscriptions page.
